Our Team

Behind every successful Mount Kilimanjaro climb and every well-run Tanzania safari is a team of professionals who understand the land, the responsibility, and the people they guide. At JoyTrekking, our strength comes from experience, teamwork, and a shared commitment to caring for every guest and every crew member.

We are a locally owned Tanzanian tour operator, and our entire team is Tanzanian. Many of us grew up in the Kilimanjaro region, learning the rhythms of the mountain long before we guided our first international traveler. This local grounding allows us to make sound decisions, communicate clearly, and create journeys that feel both safe and deeply personal.

Leadership on the Mountain

Our Guides

Our guides are trained, experienced, and selected not only for their technical ability, but for their character. They understand altitude management, pacing, and group dynamics, and they know how to support guests physically and mentally during challenging days.

Our guiding team speaks multiple languages, works closely with guests to understand their needs, and adapts each journey to ensure the best possible experience. Whether leading a Mount Kilimanjaro climb or a Tanzania safari, our guides are focused on safety, education, and genuine connection.

Our Porters – The Backbone of Every Journey

Our porters are essential professionals who make safe and ethical Mount Kilimanjaro climbing possible. We are committed to fair treatment, proper equipment, and wages above the minimum standards, in line with the guidelines set by KPAP.

Many of our guides began their careers as porters, progressing through training and experience. This pathway strengthens our team culture and ensures that every role is respected and valued.

A Team Built on Respect and Inclusion

JoyTrekking actively employs women and people with disabilities who are often overlooked in the tourism industry. We believe that a strong team is built on opportunity, dignity, and mutual respect.

This inclusive approach not only strengthens our company, but also enriches the experience of our guests, who travel with a team that reflects the diversity and resilience of our communities.

Why Traveling With Our Team Feels Different

When you travel with JoyTrekking, you are supported by a team that works together seamlessly. Decisions are made carefully, communication is clear, and every guest is treated as an individual, not a number.

This professionalism allows you to focus on the journey itself, confident that you are guided by people who know Mount Kilimanjaro and Tanzania intimately, and who take pride in helping you succeed.
