Mount Meru Summit

Mount Meru + Mount Kilimanjaro Experience

This package is designed for those who want to approach Mount Kilimanjaro with intention rather than haste. By climbing Mount Meru first, you give your body and mind time to adjust to altitude, movement and mountain life before stepping onto Africa’s highest peak.

Mount Meru is not a warm-up in name only. It is a rewarding climb in its own right, offering dramatic views, quieter trails, and a strong sense of progression. When followed by Mount Kilimanjaro, the experience feels earned, steady, and deeply satisfying.

The result is a journey that prioritises preparation, confidence, and long-term success on the mountain.

Where the journey takes you

The journey begins on Mount Meru, typically climbed over 3-4 days. This ascent allows your body to begin adapting to altitude while introducing you to multi-day trekking in a controlled, supportive environment.

The landscapes on Meru are striking and varied, moving from forested lower slopes to open ridge-lines with views toward Mount Kilimanjaro. The climb builds confidence, rhythm, and familiarity with walking days, lodge or hut routines, and altitude response.

After completing Mount Meru, you continue on to Mount Kilimanjaro with a stronger foundation. Routes are recommended based on your experience, fitness, and preferences, remaining fully route-agnostic to ensure the best fit.

Most Kilimanjaro climbs take 7–8 days, allowing for steady acclimatization and a measured ascent. Summit night feels more manageable with prior altitude exposure, and many climbers find their confidence and comfort noticeably improved after Meru.

Our experienced local mountain team supports you throughout both climbs, managing logistics, pacing, and care so you can focus on the journey itself.

Ethical and local impact

This journey is led by local teams across Mount Kilimanjaro, Northern Tanzania, and Zanzibar. Fair employment, safety, and environmental care guide every stage, ensuring that your experience supports the people and places that make it possible.
