As guides who spend much of our time here, we know that Serengeti is not just about the famous views, but about timing and understanding movement. Wildlife is always present, but knowing where to go and when is what transforms a game drive into something truly memorable.

Wildlife in Serengeti National Park

Serengeti offers some of the most consistent and diverse wildlife viewing in Africa. The open plains make it easier to spot animals, but it is the density and behavior that make each drive unique.

Our guides often focus on:

• The Great Migration, including wildebeest and zebra moving in large numbers depending on the season
• Predator activity, especially lions, cheetahs, and leopards
• Large herds of buffalo and elephant across different regions
• River crossings during migration periods

The Great Migration is the most well-known example, but even outside of migration periods, Serengeti offers exceptional wildlife encounters. Our guides often plan routes based on recent sightings and seasonal knowledge, rather than fixed locations.

Another unique aspect is the feeling of space. Driving through Serengeti, there are moments where it feels like you are the only vehicle for miles, surrounded only by wildlife and open land.

Best Time to Visit Serengeti National Park

Serengeti can be visited year-round, but the experience changes depending on the season and migration patterns.

• Dry season (June to October): Excellent for general wildlife viewing and predator activity
• Migration seasons (varies by location): Different parts of the park offer migration experiences at different times
• Green season (November to May): Lush landscapes, fewer vehicles, and calving season in the southern Serengeti
